We are delighted to announce the launch today of SUSE® OpenStack Cloud 6, SUSE’s enterprise-focused OpenStack distribution for building Infrastructure-as-a-Service private clouds.

SUSE OpenStack 6 is a major step forward in delivering enterprise-grade OpenStack private clouds. Here are some of the new capabilities:

  • Based on the OpenStack Liberty code release, providing mature, production ready OpenStack cloud software
  • Support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Support Pack 1 allows your customers to build OpenStack clouds on the latest version of the top platform for enterprise workloads
  • High availability now includes Linux compute nodes and workloads, making it easier for customers to include traditional or business-critical workloads in their OpenStack cloud
  • Support for Docker based container workload deployment
  • Adding IBM z/VM to existing support for Xen, KVM, Hyper-V and VMware, makes SUSE first to include all these hypervisor options and gives SUSE OpenStack Cloud the widest range of hypervisor support available. This allows your customers to incorporate their mainframe platforms into their OpenStack private cloud
  • Non-disruptive upgrade capabilities for future OpenStack releases and a more business-oriented release cycle for easier migration processes and less disruption to customers production environments
  • Full support for OpenStack Manila to provide direct access to the performance, scalability and management of the open source Manila shared file system service

As the first to offer an enterprise OpenStack cloud distribution, SUSE OpenStack Cloud 6 provides the OpenStack solution of choice for enterprise businesses and enables customers to achieve the next levels of productivity, efficiency and cost savings that their businesses demand.
