From pastel:
Dear Pastel Customers, Channel Partners and ATCs,
It has come to our attention that our database has been subject to a phishing scam. Please do not respond to any suspicious e-mails. If you doubt the legitimacy of an e-mail you receive, please check your internet browser URL or right click on the sender’s address to ensure that the mail is from a registered Pastel mail address.
Below is an example of the mail that has been sent to our database. We have highlighted a few handy tips on how to identify a phishing e-mail – we hope you find them useful.
What is Phishing?
Phishing happens when a criminal sends you an e-mail claiming to be from a recognised organisation, in this instance, Pastel or a brand affiliated to Pastel or Softline. The fake e-mail in meant to mislead you into revealing sensitive information for identity theft. This may be in the form of visiting a fake website or clicking on an e-mail attachment. The e-mail usually asks you to visit a (fake) website where you have to enter sensitive information such as passwords, serial numbers or customer numbers. Once you’ve supplied your details, they are e-mailed to the fraudsters, and you are redirected to the legitimate website.
How to tell if you are the recipient of a phishing scam
The e-mail below is an example of what Pastel’s business partners, customers and ATCs have received. Please take note of the tips we have outlined below on how to identify whether you are the recipient of a phishing scam.
