Open source carries software-defined storage forward

Over at ZDNet, Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols discusses how SDS hopes to transform the way storage is administered.

Of particular interest is his take on how open source intersects with SDS to provide open APIs, code maintainability, and – of course – a cost effective route forward to deliver enterprise class storage solutions.

As the author points out, it’s impossible to tell who will win this storage war, but – mainly thanks to the virtues of open source – Red Hat has a clear lead.
