Editor’s Foreword foreword
Dear Customer,

Welcome to this latest edition of the Mimecast Customer Newsletter. This month, we want to give you the lowdown on our new and improved global online training sessions, which have already proven extremely popular. The new courses remain free of charge for all Mimecast customers and we’ve listened to your feedback to make sure they are even more closely tailored to your news, in terms of both format and content. Find out more.

In this edition, you will also find the usual array of product development updates, news and events – and you can read how IT solution providers, Gijima, is benefitting from a switch to Mimecast.

Finally, and given that we’re also using this newsletter to remind you that Mimecast Mobile Access now supports all mobile platforms via a dedicated App, I thought it worth sharing the thoughts of your fellow customer.

“With smartphones beginning to outsell PCs, it’s clear that BYOD is now a reality for most organisations. With such a high volume of corporate IP being held in email, we need to ensure we’re enabling our staff to remain productive, yet within a secure environment. Mimecast’s Mobile Access app provides our lawyers with totally secure access to their entire personal email archive from their Windows Phone or iPhone to provide an ‘always-on’ service for their clients – even when primary email systems are unavailable. In the legal industry, the ability to provide this level of service is crucial to our reputation.”
Nick Tinning, IT Director at Aberdein, Considine & Company

Best regards

Keith Wallington,
Chief Operating Officer, Mimecast

The response to our Interactive Online Sessions has been excellent, with over 1600 attendees and satisfaction scores of 6.2 on our 7-point rating scales. Based on your feedback we will now introduce a new set of shorter, more focused online modules that will make your learning experience even better.

Improved Global Coverage

From June 2012, each interactive training module will be delivered twice a month at two different times to cater for our customers across our major regions.

Blend of Live and Recorded Modules

This new online training program consists of two types of courses:

– A series of 1 hour live and interactive sessions targeting the most important topics in terms of features, customer requests, and use of the Mimecast services

– A library of short video tutorials providing additional information on those topics not covered in the core modules.

What do I need to do?

View the schedule and course outlines on the Mimecast website, and book the relevant sessions from here. Remember that these sessions are free of charge, but please let us know if, once you have booked a place, you later find you cannot attend. You can access our video library here.

What do I get if I attend?

All sessions consist of interactive discussions via chat and poll questions, and include demonstration of relevant features and configuration. All slide decks, recordings and materials are available for download from the Mimecast Knowledge Base. An Attendance certificate is issued once feedback has been provided on the training session experience. Remember, we are always interested in your comments, so please send them in to us.

Financial Times – The Connected Business

As more businesses look to cloud-based IT services it is essential they take full consideration of their strategy, from cost control and data management through to minimizing disruption during the migration process. There are many aspects that will determine the selection of a good cloud vendor, not least the importance to have an excellent track record, correct contractual obligations in place and credible certifications that give you peace of mind.

Case Study

Leading IT solution providers Gijima’s decision to encourage mobile connectivity among employees presented it with several email availability and data security challenges. Find out how a move to Mimecast’s Unified Email Management (UEM) solution met each of the group’s requirements while delivering several additional benefits at no extra cost.

As Head of IT, Jaco van der Merwe points out, “within hours we had continuity of our email service, our business emails were being archived and we had comprehensive security protection”.
