Dell and Red Hat have upgraded their Dell Red Hat Cloud Solution to help enterprise customers meet their demand for more flexible, elastic and agile IT services.
The upgraded enterprise-grade private-cloud solution will help customers build highly scalable clouds that will be powered by OpenStack.
Dell and Red Hat co-engineered the new Cloud Solution with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and Dell PowerEdge R630 and R730xd high-density rack servers.
Dell highlighted that the PowerEdge R630 is designed to maximise data centre efficiency for OpenStack cloud deployments, while PowerEdge R730xd provides an optimised balance of storage utilisation and performance.
The revamped solution is likely to provide customers with increased density, which is facilitated by the 20% VM density increase, and over 30% increase in storage capacity within the same footprint.
The fine-tuned configurations of Dell PowerEdge R730xd servers featuring solid state are capable of accelerating the performance of Ceph data processing.
Dell Red Hat Cloud Solution will also have an extended lifecycle support, which will include options for up to three years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform “production phase” support and updates.
Dell Engineered Solutions and Cloud GM Jim Ganthier said: “Enterprise customers are requiring robust and rapidly scalable cloud infrastructures that deliver business results.
“Dell and Red Hat continue to jointly deliver cost effective, open source-based cloud computing solutions that provide greater agility to our customers, and this newest version of the Dell Red Hat Cloud Solution leverages best of breed technology from both companies to do so.”
